Hapsha uttara: On August 5, 2024 during the mass uprising, while Hasina and the leaders and activists of the Awami League fled the country in the face of public anger, Hasina’s close associate, Sheikh Badal Ahmed, a senior vice president of the German Awami League, is still seen openly moving around in the Uttara, Tongi, and Gulshan areas.

At that time, police used batons against students protesting for quota reform, and Sheikh Badal, a financial backer of the Awami League, has still not been apprehended for reasons unknown. On the ground, it was observed that he is still openly showing off with groups in Uttara and Tongi.

The fraudster Badal has multiple cases filed against him at the Uttara West Police Station. Additionally, there is a fraud case against him at Mohammadpur Police Station. Sheikh Badal Ahmed is a former vice president of the Haji Muhammad Mohsin College Student Union and the senior vice president of the German Awami League. He campaigned for elections in his area using boat symbols during the tenure of the corrupt Awami government. However, he did not receive a nomination at that time due to using a German passport.

The continued freedom of Sheikh Badal, also known as German Badal, an accomplice of the fascist Hasina, has generated negative reactions and anger among the quota-reform protesting students and local youth.

Reports indicate that Sheikh Badal Ahmed, a two-time former general secretary of the German Awami League and an influential businessman, is deceiving ordinary people in the country and illegally transferring hundreds of millions of taka abroad using a German passport.

While the nationwide “Devil Hunt” initiative continues, Sheikh Badal, the accomplice of the fascist Hasina, remains elusive. As a senior vice president of the German Awami League, he has become so powerful that he is intimidating innocent businessmen.

Sources indicate that during the Awami League government, Badal used his influence in the Uttara and Tongi areas to file false cases against BNP and Jamaat-e-Islami leaders and activists and had them arrested through the administration.

During the anti-discrimination student movement in July 2024, he allegedly engaged in inhumane torture of the protesting students, spending large sums of money to do so in Uttara. Furthermore, he reportedly injured innocent people with his hired thugs, according to multiple sources.

Sheikh Badal, a financier for the murderer Hasina and her son Sajeeb Wazed Joy, is involved in illegal liquor trading. He established a drug empire in Uttara and Tongi by exerting his influence in the Awami League. To sustain his drug empire and illegal business, he managed to secure the support of killer Hasina and her son Joy.

Whenever killer Hasina traveled to Germany, all illegal business deals took place at Badal’s residence. Blessed by the merciless Hasina and her son Sajeeb Wazed Joy, Badal is illegally amassing thousands of crores of taka. Thanks to his position as senior vice president of the German Awami League, he has become widely known as German Badal.

As a defendant in multiple cases, Badal has purchased land on Tongi Station Road where he has constructed a 10-story building currently valued at half a billion takas. The market value of the multi-story building he erected in Hatir Jheel is currently over one billion takas. Additionally, he reportedly possesses assets worth hundreds of crores in his native Gopalganj under both his real and fictitious names.

During the student movement demanding quota reforms for government jobs in July 2024, he injured protesters using batons. On October 21, 2024, a joint task force along with Uttara West Police conducted a raid at his residence in Sector 5, Uttara, to arrest the fraudulent and illegal remittance businessman. At that time, he managed to escape, but his accomplices were arrested with foreign currency and illegal liquor.

Due to being a business partner of Hasina’s son Joy, he had considerable power during the Awami League’s rule. He misused that power to obtain licenses for illegal liquor bars and amassed significant wealth. He owns an extravagant house on Road 4 of Uttara’s Sector 5. He has also built luxury high-rise buildings in Hatir Jheel. Locals are calling for the intervention of the Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) to account for Badal’s illegal wealth.
